What It Is

A Bible club built for children.

Patch the Pirate Club is Majesty Music’s Bible club for kids, and it is what our children are doing every Wednesday night while the grown-ups are in Bible study. Each week has a Bible lesson, a memory verse, games and singing, all built around that year’s adventure. Caleb and Martha Weaver run it.

The Story Behind Patch

Where the eye patch came from.

Patch the Pirate is not a made-up mascot. He started with a man named Ron Hamilton, who in 1978 lost his left eye to cancer. Once he had an eye patch, children kept telling him he looked like a pirate — so instead of correcting them, he decided to become one.

Ron and his wife Shelly, working with Majesty Music, turned that into music kids actually wanted to listen to. The first Patch the Pirate album came out in 1981, and Patch the Pirate Club followed in 1984 — Bible lessons and songs built around a new adventure story every year. It grew into one of the best-known children’s ministries in independent Baptist churches, and Majesty Music still makes a new Patch adventure every year under Ron’s daughter Megan and her husband Adam Morgan.
